Our Home phone service is provided as a Voice over IP (broadband) product. If you have chosen one of our Broadband, Xtream TV & Phone packages, the phone port on your Optix Router will be active. Once your phone is connected, you can make calls to nationwide landlines, Pakistan mobile numbers, emergency numbers and international numbers.

You can use most conventional landline phone handsets with our phone service. Simply connect your landline handset to the phone port on the back of your ONT router. Please note that our phone service depend on your connection and the availability of our network. This means it won’t work if there’s a power failure, or a failure in the network. This would also affect calls to emergency services, so you should have another way of making emergency calls.

With our phone service, you will be able to use caller display, call waiting and call barring options.

Caller display allows you to see who is calling before you pick up the phone. There’s no extra charge – however you will need a caller display-compatible phone. Typically, it will have a small screen to display the incoming phone number to appear on-screen.

It may be possible to set up your phone to display names if someone you know is ringing you, to make it easier to identify callers. You’ll need to refer to your phone manual, or check with the manufacturer to do this.

Call waiting tells you when there is another number trying to call you. You will hear a discreet beeping noise while you are on the phone.

Call barring lets you stop certain types of numbers from being called from your phone. It can help you manage what calls are being made.

You can choose to bar (multiple barring allowed):

– All outbound calls

– Calls to Pakistan mobile starting with 03

As we use your internet connection to supply your telephone line, we can offer you great savings on our phone service and call rates, compared with other providers. Our fibre connection is designed specifically with telephony in mind, so you can be confident that you’ll always have the clearest call quality.

If you have chosen one of our Broadband, Xtream TV & Home Phone packages, the phone port on your ONT router will be active. Our phone service is provided as a voice over broadband and, in most cases, you can use your existing handset if it has a RJ11 port and plug. Please contact Customer Support if you are concerned that your existing handset is not compatible.

Plug an RJ11 phone cable into the grey phone port at the back of the Optix Router and the other end of the cable into your phone.

You can connect one handset to your router at a time. Connecting more than one handset at the same time can cause the phone signals to collide, meaning neither will work.

Our internet service operates independent of Xtream TV and phone connection. Ordering phone service from Optix is optional.

Yes, you can continue to use any other providers for phone, or other services, received over the Public Telephone Network.

Optix uses its own network to supply your connection, and doesn’t rely on any other provider’s infrastructure.

Some branded handsets are not compatible with our router as they don’t have an RJ11 port and plug.

Optix phone service cannot be used for making emergency telephone calls if the power supply to your building fails. Alternative arrangements should be made for access to the emergency services in such circumstances.

We offer battery back-up units (BBU) as optional add-ons for an additional one-off cost of PKR 5,000. A BBU will provide a reserve supply of service for at least an hour, allowing you to make emergency calls during the event of a power failure. These can be purchased when you place your order for service, or at any point during your contract.

Voice Over IP is telephone service dependent on your connection to the network and the availability of the network. The telephone service will therefore cease to function if there is a power failure or a failure in the network.
